Birmingham Law Society Library
The relocation and cataloguing of current library stock to Aston University Library is nearing completion.
The complete Aston University library will be accessible to members of the Society from early September 2008 and before then membership cards will be issued to all Society member firms with briefing notes on the procedures to be followed for access and borrowing of certain of the library contents.
Historical records are accessible at Birmingham Law Society as reference only.
If you are in possession of any books from the law library, please return them as soon as possible to the Birmingham Law Society offices at 8 Temple Street. We regret that no renewals are possible.

| Search is on for legal high fliers |
Since 2002, the Birmingham Law Society Legal Awards has recognised and rewarded the strength and depth of talent within the West Midlands’ thriving legal sector – and this year is no different!
On Thursday 26 March 2009, Birmingham Law Society will be holding its eighth annual Legal Awards. The glittering ceremony and dinner will take place at the ICC – we hope you will join us.
As usual we will be looking to you to help us find the region’s legal high fliers by nominating yourself and/or other candidates for the categories in these prestigious awards.
The Legal Awards are open to anyone to either nominate or be nominated.
How to nominate:
Step 1:
- There are nine categories for which you are invited to nominate.
- At this stage you are able to nominate people both within and outside of your own organisation (including yourself).
- Please put forward just ONE name of an individual or practice in each of the categories overleaf.
- Consider the reputation, experience, acumen, professionalism, commitment to clients and others with whom they work (including involvement in the community), leadership and energy, as applied to individuals as well as organisations.
- Please complete legibly and include your name/organisation.
- Further copies of this form can be downloaded from Birmingham Law Society’s web site. Photocopied nomination forms will be accepted.
- Nomination forms must be returned to the Birmingham Law Society by 5 December 2008.
Step 2:
- Once all entries have been received, nominated individuals or organisations will be contacted and asked to supply further detailed information to support their nomination.
Step 3:
- Entrants in each category will be shortlisted by the judging panel.
Step 4:
- Shortlisted nominees may be required to attend an interview with the judging panel in February 2009 (date to be confirmed), from which the winners will be decided.
